         Jim Tozier

A sincere 'Thank You' goes out to Jim Tozier, our guest performing artist.

Quite a master guitarist in the fingerstyle arena,  Jim's original work clearly identifies him as an artisan who composes with the mind and brilliance that defines 'musician', then delivers his craft through a genuine 'heart & soul' performance on a level that only a true artist could achieve.  Jim's acoustic craftsmanship doesn't replicate others .... it is nothing less than the music of  ...... Jim Tozier.

Jim's web site ... JimTozier.com ... offers samples of his music along with a biography, scheduled performances, outstanding reviews from leading critics and fellow professionals.

I thank you personally, Jim, for a large part in the success of this year's MonroeStock.

Frank Poindexter

MonroeStocker's were in for an unscheduled treat when nationally known dobro artist Frank Poindexter was spotted trying to mingle anonymously among the crowd.  Failed & Nailed!  Frank came along with the AGF's own Mickey Tonelli  .... 'MickeyT' .... but it was obvious he would not be allowed to leave, with body and dobro intact, prior to an exclusive MonroeStock performance.

Notice that *gorgeous* resonator guitar on his lap?  It is one of a limited run of 'Poindexter Signature Edition' instruments crafted by Master Luthier Dewey Cornett of Tennessee.   Details and photos are worth a look on Frank's web site ...

Left, Patrick Cameron flings his arms in protest of his dad, Paul, hogging that Taylor.

Right, John catches another quick nap while Wade tunes up.

Lauren offered a *really* impressive guitar and vocal performance this year, accompanied by Stan Jacques on his personal Taylor 814.

I think there's a 'circle of fate' between myself, Lauren, Stan and Holloway's.  Several years ago .... May / June, 2001 .... Stan's performance on that same 814 brought both Taylor guitars and the art of fingerstyle into my life.

Then, just after my 'first Taylor', I discovered and joined what was, at the time .... November, 2001 .... the 'Taylor Guitar Forum'.  Now to bring Lauren into focus, I spotted her in Holloway's Music Center ogling and fondling a Taylor NS62 .... this was late August / early September, 2002 .... I introduced myself, bragged on the Taylor product in general and invited her to join us at the Taylor Forum.  Well .... she apparently believed me .... she joined the family.

Ok .... now, enter MonroeStock .... November 2, 2002.  Lauren attends, still a novice, doesn't play or sing that day.  Stan Jacques was honoring us as a featured artist for the second time.  While introducing Stan, I mention that he offers individual tutoring in acoustic fingerstyle guitar with a healthy dash of music theory stirred in.  Lauren becomes student of Stan Jacques.

October 25, 2003.  MonroeStock # 3.  Slightly less than one year later.  Lauren, accompanied by Stan, plays fingerstyle, this time on her new, custom Taylor 714.  AND, she SANG.  I particularly recall a ....  'very-good-though-a-bit-nervous' ..... rendition of 'City of New Orleans'.  The crowd loved it though.

October 23, 2004. MonroeStock-IV.  Two days shy of one year later.  Lauren, again accompanied by Stan, does a 'Jam Up' job in the open mic sessions, especially on an Alison Krauss tune.  Confidence level much stronger.  Her overall performance spoke for itself.

So .... Lauren .... I'm honored to be the one that snagged you into all this in the beginning.

Oh .... that circle I mentioned ....

 >>>>>>>  Stan & Taylor  >  Rick  >  Holloway's  > Lauren  >  MonroeStock  >  Stan & Taylor > Rick  > Holloway's > Lauren > MonroeStock  >>>>>>>

.... how long unbroken ?

Capitol City Bistro owners Brian & Kim Arrowood rolled out the red carpet for MonroeStock'ers,  closing early to the general public and dedicating full staff and facilities to the group.   The Holloway's tech crew set up a pro-level performance area,  providing quality audio as well as stage lighting.   Perfect 'coffee-house / tavern' quaintness, splendid food, excellent tech support and plenty of open mic time for everyone ..... just as you asked for.    No need to top this for next year, eh?

..... that's all for now ...... may post a few more another time .....

Thanks for dropping by to look!!!!    Rick
